The Gift of Joy

Joy Web

This week it was announced that the joy of dance is to be prescribed by NHS doctors to tackle loneliness. We agree.

We would throw to the joy and exuberance that Strictly Come Dancing has given us over the years.

This month we want to highlight the gift of joy that you, our business donors and supporters, deliver to your beneficiaries in cool hard metrics that you can report back to your senior management and employees. Scroll down to the bottom of the page if you haven't got time to read the whole article to find out how.

If you have a bit more time; we carried out some very detailed telephone research. The results show that our charity partners are supporting beneficiaries who almost always present with multiple problems, the top 5 challenges are: loneliness, low income, unemployment, homelessness, and mental health.

The research delivered some very pertinent results:

  1. Several organisations quoted the fact that offering these goods allows the service to engage with lost individuals who otherwise would be inaccessible to the entire system.
  2. The goods were described as able to improve the quality of beneficiaries' lives, and their self-esteem, highlighting the fact there are people that really do care for them – a crucial message for those struggling individuals to hear.
  3. The goods provided were also commented as being products that the beneficiaries would otherwise be unable to afford or access, meaning a significant impact to quality of life when they are received.

"We are so grateful for the help from Giving World, without this we could not reach out to people at the grassroots level," Durham-based community support charity.

"It elevates the beneficiaries to a position where they start coping more on their own, improving their physical and mental health to cope with everyday life," Loughborough-based hostel for men with addictions.

So, please go take a look at your online accounts at www.givingworldonline.com. You will discover the total number of people you have helped, the value of your donations and the tonnage saved from disposal.

You can also download an excel report detailing the date of each of your donations, information about the receiving charity, which beneficiaries have been helped and how the donations are helping.

Additionally, we are SO NERVOUS and EXCITED to announce we are upgrading the website by spring next year when you will be able to also report on the CO2e emissions potentially saved from landfill.
